Healthy eating is actually not that hard. You just have to pay more attention to your eating habits. We have a list of 9 simple steps that will lead you to a much more healthy lifestyle. Check them out!
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are a great source of vitamins and minerals. The more of them you consume, the better you’ll feel. Your mood will be better – your appearance too. So why not?! It doesn’t hurt much to eat a salad and a fruit a day, does it? Try to include a wide array of colors of fruits and vegetables: red, purple, orange, and yellow, in addition to leafy greens.
Drink Water Instead of Soda
Most sugary liquid calories are empty calories. And we consume a lot of them daily. Take that bottle of water with you wherever you go. Water cannot be replaced by any other drink. It also refreshes your brain and body and helps all of the organs work better. In case you are tired of drinking water, go for fresh juices or smoothies made of real fruits and vegetables. Make every drink count!
Plan Your Meals
This is a great way to stick to a healthy diet. It will also make your life much easier and save you precious time and money in the long run. Plan your week of healthy meals and list what you need to prepare them – and then go shopping.
Eat at Regular Intervals
Eating at regular intervals is important to keep your metabolism steady and working. If you want to be healthy, you should always have your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Maybe a healthy snack in the afternoon works, too. Try fruit instead of cookies and sugary desserts.
You don’t really have to eat exactly by the clock. Just stop skipping meals throughout the day.
Eat More Natural Food
Well, this is obvious. The healthiest products are the natural ones. Go for organic stuff! It’s worth it!
Choose the Healthy Alternatives
Eat nuts instead of chips, berries instead of candy, soymilk instead of whole milk, whole grain bread instead of white bread, and so on, and so on. You know what we mean here.
Yes, we know that you like chocolate, cookies, and cakes. We all do! But healthy eating requires some effort. Fulfill your sugar cravings with something healthier like fruits, for example. You may miss your sweet snacks at first, but very soon when you start feeling better and see the results of your hard work, you will actually begin to prefer the healthier alternative.
Change Up the Meat
Reduce your red meat intake. Eat more poultry and fish instead. Fish in particular contains more beneficial fats and vitamins, while fish and poultry both have more lean protein. This means that they provide your body with more nutrients and energy and they are easier for your body to process than red meat.
Eat Only Until You Are 80% Full
Practice not over-eating! It’s easy to overeat since the brain lags a minute or two in registering that your stomach is “full”. Eat slowly and stop once you feel you are “almost” full. This is what the residents of Okinawa do. Okinawa is a Japanese island credited for its population’s healthy way of eating which results in more people living over 100 years than anywhere in the world. They really know what they are doing!
Live long and see you soon!
