Approximately 3 miles of the beach bike trail are located in the City of Santa Monica.
You can find a wide range of sports facilities on the beach – or just a few minutes away – waiting for you. Volleyball, basketball and tennis courts are available to the public every day for free. They are on a first come, first serve basis so don’t forget to write down your name on the list.
Do you want to work out? No problem! Santa Monica beach has it all! Famed “Muscle Beach” is the place to be. It is located on the Ocean Front Walk, just south of the Santa Monica Pier, and you can usually see huge crowds of fit people exercising under the sun. Athletic equipment like rings, bars and much more are available to anybody. For free!
Find the Annenberg Community Beach House, located at 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, CA 90402 for some more free fun. You don’t even have to be a Beach House member. Besides the low or free fitness classes, the recreational programs, community and cultural events happening year-round, the Beach House offers amazing views, a splash pad, a playground for the little ones, beach courts and fields, a pool, free wi-fi, and much more.
If you are tired of the sand and the beach activities, you can always jump up on the Santa Monica Pier and get some fresh air, enjoy a view or two from the Ferris Wheel, check out the aquarium, take a ride on the carousel or enjoy the greatest sunset on Earth.
