Two more Twilight concerts from this year’s season are remaining and they are all in August. If you haven’t been yet, it’s time to go! Spend some good Thursdays around the Santa Monica Pier. On August 10 the singer-songwriter and actress Mon Laferte will be performing. The Australian indietronica band – Miami Horror is showing up for some more ear-pleasing music sessions on 8/17.
Jazz on the Lawn
The jazz festival is back for its’ 12th season. Every Sunday between 5 and 7 PM you can join the free concerts in Gandara park. Park amenities like a children’s playground, restrooms and limited parking are avilable. The program of the festival also includes free dance lessons, intermission performances on select days, and much more. You can find more information and a music lineup here.
TIP: Free Parking is available after 3:30 PM in the Agensys lot located at 1800 Stewart Street, a half block north of the park.
Food and Film
ArcLight Cinemas has announced the first of their upcoming Food & Film programs. ArcLight in Santa Monica is partnering with the Gourmandise School to bring a food demo on Tuesday, 8/15. Right after that, at 7 PM, they are screening the Golden Globe winning film – Julie & Julia. The film is about Julia Child’s story of her start in the cooking profession and is intertwined with blogger Julie Powell’s 2002 challenge to cook all the recipes in Child’s first book.
If you crave more movies, you can also check Santa Monica Summer Documentary Series. The series presents award-winning and festival favorite documentaries – “Served Like A Girl”, “A Suitable Girl”, “I Am Another You”, and “Unrest”. All screenings will be followed by a lively Q&A with the filmmakers.
Annenberg Community Beach House is hosting some chill, hot nights at the pool. These events are adults only (18+) and include a heated pool, mini-ping-pong, cool people and… The Sunset!
If you are a fan of organic food produced locally, Santa Monica is the place for you. Stay local and organic! Come and see California’s rich agriculture in action! By the way, Bread and Porridge supports organic agriculture by choosing to only serve certified organic eggs in our omelets.
