Scrambles are one of the most ordered items on our menu here at Bread and Porridge. Possibly because it can be a great way to get some added flavor into a healthy morning egg dish, but it’s probably because we do them so well!
We love the idea of providing healthy ways to get our customers excited about breakfast because we really do care about you. One way that we try to accomplish this is by adding healthy ingredients like veggies and herbs to our savory egg dishes, that being the egg scramble in todays topic.
Eggs can be such a fast and easy way to get some very important protein into your morning meal but they can also become very mundane and just plain old.. well, plain. As we look toward keeping our breakfast options exciting, egg scrambles are a great way to incorporate healthy and tasty options. A few staple egg scramble additions are onions, a healthy and savory way to get prudent phytochemicals, vitamin C and also chromium which naturally helps with blood sugar regulation. More classic egg scramble additions are peppers, whether you are into the sweet or hot variety, they are all beneficial with natural phytochemicals once again, not to mention beta-carotene which pack the benefit of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. In the hot varieties of peppers, the “hot sensation” chemical capsaicin is known for it’s fat burning compounds and also helps you feel full. It’s also attributed to help with pain relief, although it’s usually associated with burning pain in your mouth, if not used to it!
With all those beneficial traits in only three ingredients, eggs, onion and peppers, it’s no wonder that people can’t seem to resist our tasty, savory egg scrambles! And here at Bread and Porridge we like to go all out on our scrambles and include so many other beneficial flavor combinations that you are sure to love.
A couple favorites here are our Sweet Pepper Scramble, which sports some seriously succulent feta cheese, and our Basil Scramble with Jack Cheese. That’s right, a real scramble needs a great cheese to round out the fullness of flavor. All scrambles are also served with our staple Roasted Red Potatoes which pack a lot of added flavor and another source of vitamins and protein to round out a well balanced morning nosh-fest!
A healthy, balanced breakfast is so important for your body to function and start off on the right foot to carry you through until lunchtime. Your brain and body need the right fuel in the morning, having been literally starved all night, so be sure to do your body good when you wake up!
